C13 / C14 power supply connector

Most computers, monitors and other (professional) audio, video, data and network devices have an IEC C14 power connection. You can connect a power cord with IEC C13 connector to this.

Suitable for 'cold' devices

The C13/C14 connectors are suitable for 'cold' devices (applications where the pins do not exceed 70°C). For 'warm' appliances (applications where the temperature of the pins can reach 120°C) such as grills, hobs, gourmet sets, etc. you need C15/C16 connectors.

Maximum 250V / 10A / 2500W

The C13/C14 connectors are rated for use at 250 Volt voltage and current up to 10 Amperes. Multiplying this results in a maximum power of 2500 Watts. You may have a (heavy) device with a C13 connection that requires more power than 2500 Watts. A strange combination, since the C13 connection was never developed for this. For these applications it is therefore best to use a thicker cable with 3x 1.5mm² cores. On other websites, these types of cables are offered as 16A cables, which is actually incorrect as the C13 plug has not been assessed for this.
